Spirit Week Monday, March 25 - 29, 2019

posted 22 Mar 2019, 07:55 by David McOuat

We are very excited to celebrate Spirit Week from Monday, March 25 to Friday, March 29. Throughout the week we will highlight some special community partners, raise awareness to some important messages and simply try to have fun as a community.

Monday, March 25 is Crazy Socks Day - Wear your craziest colours and mismatch your socks all you like!  March 21 was officially Crazy Sock Day for Down Syndrome Awareness Day but we will recognize it Monday.

Tuesday, March 26 is Wear Purple for Epilepsy Awareness Day!  Any purple will do.

Wednesday, March 27 is St Francis of Assisi Day - Wear Green to celebrate the Patron Saint of Ecologists who loved animals and nature.

Thursday, March 28 is Wear Red Day (Red Ribbons will be great too) to honour our special guest from MADD Canada who is presenting to our Gr 4 / 5 / 6 classes.

Friday, March 29 is CRAZY HAIR Day. Sometimes you just need to have fun for no other reason than to celebrate being part of a great community. The crazier hairdo the better.

Student reps will be going around recognizing the participation of our students and handing out treats to say great job.

We do ask that all students make a small donation of a Toonie ($2.00) or any other donation they can afford. All proceeds will go to our St. Francis of Assisi Parish to recognize the great work they do in our community and how important a role the parish plays in our students' lives.

Basketball School Programs

posted 27 Feb 2019, 14:39 by David McOuat   [ updated 27 Feb 2019, 14:39 ]

February 27, 2019

Good Day,

We are connecting with you in regards to our HoopsKool Basketball School Programs. Going into our fifth year, we have received great feedback and requests for our 2019 Basketball School Programs such as Basketball Day as well as team and coaching development.
Additional programs are available for special needs students, multi-sport days and officiating for games/events. Our focus is to use sports to promote active living, team work, fair play and having fun.

On a typical Basketball Day visit, our coaches come in and do a full day of basketball activities with JK's up to grade eight. Sessions can take anywhere from 25-50 minutes, depending on the number and sizes of the groups/classes we have participating. Most groups are between 15-20 students (up to 30 max).  We do some basic intro to basketball skills and then break into games and challenges for everyone to participate in.

The cost for our programs range from $50 for a team development session to $200 for a full Basketball Day. While we understand budgeting for these type of initiatives may be an issue for some schools, we have been championed by our sponsors and community partners to your first program visit in 2019 at no charge. Partnership and fundraising opportunities are available for those interested in developing basketball for their community and student’s families.

If you are interested in any of our school visit programs or fundraising initiatives, please feel free to connect to get involved.

Yours in Hoops,

Damon Browne
